Eucalyptus is a fast-growing evergreen tree native to Australia. The leaves are steam distilled to extract the oil that contains 1,8-cineole, also known as eucalyptol. Aromatically, it has a fresh, woody and bright medicinal aroma.
The leaves also contain flavonoids and tannins. Flavonoids are plant-based antioxidants, and tannins which are substances found mainly in plants, bark, and leaves that may help to reduce inflammation.
There are several different species of Eucalyptus Essential Oils exist. Eucalyptus globulus is the most common one available. It is most known for its benefits for respiratory issues (congestion, colds, flu, fever, and bronchitis). It also aids in a massage oil to help ease muscle pain and arthritis.
